description
This is a rare and interesting antique Japanese object. It is a book of 600 samples of silk thread, each one being different. The concertina type book was produced by the Kyoto Iori Research Association and comes presented in a strong purposely built attractive wooden box. Both box and book are in excellent condition. All of the silk threads are in pristine condition with none missing. A few of the threads have been folded through the careless turning of pages, but this is easily fixed. The book is made of strong, heavy card with a firm front and back cover, the insides of which contains further information, mostly in Japanese poetic form. It would be a great resource for an embroiderer or weaver or textile researcher....or just lovely to own and enjoy. The book measures 32 x 22 x 5cms.
