description
This is a beautiful wedding kimono. It has been basted together rather than sewn and would be ideal to dismantle and sew into a modern wedding gown or to use some of the panels in a wedding gown. It is made of a luxurious heavy off white silk with lots of embroidery in white and some woven designs. The gold flowers are a type of polymer applique which has been molded onto the fabric to produce a crisp, slightly raised and very shiny motif. The effect is stunning and this gown really shines with an almost holographic effect in some areas. More photos are available on request and it is available for viewing, by appointment, at my Canberra studio. This kimono appears to be from the 1960s-70s and for some unknown reason was never completely finished.
